Lawn Signs
I’m not generally a big fan of lawn signs, and I’ve had “gentlemen’s agreements” with my past opponents in which we agreed not to use them. That wasn’t an option this year, so I decided a creative approach was in order: Homemade signs! A contractor friend had a bunch of scrap pieces which he cut into vegetable shapes, which Judy and I then painted and stenciled. The campaign also budgeted some money to pay an Orwell sculptor friend to make some additional ones. Fortunately, he, too, had a lot of scrap materials from a construction project, which he was happy to use for the artistic endeavor.
I hope you enjoy the photo gallery. The signs are my way of connecting my re-election efforts with my “first” job as a vegetable farmer, supporting the arts, keeping as much money as close to home as possible, and staying authentic while having fun.
If you have one on your lawn that’s not already in the gallery, send us the photo, and we’ll post it! If you don’t have one, but would like one, let us know and we’ll set you up!
Many thanks to Marcia & Jeremiah Parker and Marlene & Norton Latourelle who did the lion's share of "mass" production! You can see Jeremiah Beach Parker Restoration’s craftsmanship throughout Vermont, in a number of iconic barns, homes, and municipal buildings. You can also visit Norton’s Gallery on Route 73 West in Orwell, or visit their website to see their whimsical folk art wooden sculptures. Take home an easy-care pet! No shedding.
